My Guilty Pleasure When I Travel

Knitting while Travelling 



This is not a post about a destination.

Nor is it a reflection about travel.

This is more like… a small personal confession.

Let me ask you a question:

When you travel, do you take any kind of entertainment with you?
A book? A tablet? Something to pass the time?

Let me share my “guilty pleasure” — the one thing that can never be missing from my carry-on.

My knitting.

Yes. Because it’s not only travel that I’m passionate about — organizing trips, searching, and listening to the stories of people coming back from faraway places… I also love knitting.

Mostly socks.
Although I knit other things too, socks are perfect for traveling: it’s a small project, easy to carry, and you can make progress little by little without any pressure.

And for those wondering:
yes, I do take my knitting on board.

I even have a small travel kit.
I don’t carry scissors, but a small tool (I don’t even know what it’s called 😄) that cuts yarn and looks like a keychain.
I use circular bamboo needles and plastic sewing needles.
And of course, I bring my yarn.

That’s all I need for a simple project… and to avoid getting bored on a flight — especially on long-haul flights.

Even though I try to sleep, it’s not always easy.
And having something in my hands, something that keeps me calm and entertained, completely changes the experience.

Because sometimes, travel is not just about the destination.
It’s also about how you experience the journey.

And now I’m curious:
